Gigabit internet is the newest, most exclusive internet service available today. Its speed is equal to internet speeds reaching up to 1000 Mbps, 100 times faster than the average consumer internet available in most communities today.
FTC gigabit service will offer internet broadband speeds up to 1 gigabit per second (1000 Mbps) , or 100 times faster than the FCC newly recommended minimum broadband standard. It also offers the capacity to stream video, download or stream music, post, tweet, pin on social media and connect all of your tablets, computers and smartphones all at the same time.
With speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, you can download 25 songs in one second, download your favorite TV show in less than 3 seconds, or download an online HD movie in less than 36 seconds.

No wireless device is currently capable of supporting 1 gigabit speeds. Therefore, no device connecting to the service wirelessly will be capable of measuring the full potential.
The minimum software required is Windows 7 or higher, MAC OS 10.6 or higher. The minimum hardware is 2.0 ghz dual core CPU, 2 GB RAM, 1 gigabit transfer rate hard drive and gigabit Ethernet adapter.
Other hardware/operating systems will work with the service; however, the full capabilities of the service may not be accessible.
Common devices that fall outside of these specifications are:
- Gaming systems
- Cellphones
- Tablets/iPads
- Computers running Windows XP or older operating systems
The websites you visit and the path through the internet to reach them also may not support 1 gigabit at every link, or may be affected by server loads.
