Cubed Steak and Gravy served over Rice



  • Rice
  • Water
  • Salt

Cubed Steak and Gravy

  • 1 1/2 Cups of Vegetable Oil
  • Cube Steak
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Milk


Heat oil in cast iron or heavy skillet. Place Flour in a bowl and add salt and pepper. When oil is hot enough, dredge pieces of cube steak is the flour mixture and coat entire piece of steak, place in skillet, flip twice on each side to brown steak, remove from skillet and place on plate with paper towel to drain excess oil. To make gravy, remove 3/4 of remaining oil from skillet. Add Flour and salt and pepper to make a rue. Once flour absorbs oil, add milk, stirring often, when milk bubbly, add steak into gravy and turn down to simmer.
