Summer is right around the corner, and that often means vacations and time spent with family and friends. If you’re like us, though, your schedule might be a little too busy to spend a whole week on a vacation this summer.
Lucky for you, as a South Carolina resident, there are some great in-state destinations perfect for a memorable weekend getaway that will fit in your busy schedule.
Here are some of our favorites:
Myrtle Beach
Everyone deserves a little fun in the sun, and there isn’t a better place for that in South Carolina than Myrtle Beach. With 60 miles of beautiful beaches, the Grand Strand offers many unique restaurants, an array of fun and thrilling attractions, and plenty of affordable resorts and hotels, making Myrtle Beach an easy choice for a weekend getaway.
After a day of lounging on the beach, take some time to enjoy the Myrtle Beach social scene. Whether you’re seeking a romantic evening watching fireworks, a fun time listening to live music or an excursion to check out the nightlife at Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach has something for everyone.
Beaufort
Looking for a little beach town with tons of history? Take a drive to Beaufort. The historic town is located on Port Royal Island, one of the largest of the Sea Islands located along the southeastern United States’ Atlantic Coast. Beaufort’s entire downtown is designated a historic district by the National Trust for Historic Preservation — a rarity among U.S. towns.
Beaufort is renowned for its varied bed and breakfast options. Relax and enjoy all the beauty around you when you wake up and sip hot coffee on your balcony. Along with the local seafood restaurants, you’ll enjoy shopping and strolling along historic Bay Street. Want to see all of Beaufort? Climb the lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park. Be sure to take a camera because you won’t want to miss out on some beautiful photo opportunities.
Greenville
Not the beach type? How about taking a trip to Greenville? Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Greenville combines southern charm, stunning natural beauty and an unexpected contemporary cool.
Greenville offers a little mix of everything for the adventurous soul. You can hike or mountain bike the surrounding mountains, then grab a pint from one of the many local craft breweries.
